Skinny cows question

So I just bought 10 angus cows from a friend who purchased them from a older farmer in his area. My friend kept the calves(needed to be weened), the calves really looked good. The cows are very skinny and look malnourished/wormy. The cows appeared to be middle aged to me. I wormed them and just moved them to my pasture yesterday in southwest va. I have plenty of good grass. I'm very nervous but the price was right on these girls. My question is will they rebound in your experiences given the calves are pulled, been wormed, and I plan on getting them plenty of protein?

They will gain. I would leave them on grass and start off slow this fall putting them on feed. Getting the calves off will help more than you think. Worm them again this fall. I would also preg check them and make sure they are all bred back.

Absolutely.
