Sinus Woes

I had my physical in early January. I am in good physical and medical health but my Doctor would not leave it at that. She had to find something wrong so she got on me about my spiritual health.

Since my physical, I have been back to see her three times for a sinus infection. First, she put me on amoxicillin, then Ciprofloxacin and now, I am on AMOX TR-K CLV. That seems to work but the cat scan revealed a closed maxillary sinus on my right side. She made the remark that the sinuses are not designed for efficient drainage due to the orifice location. I told her if her spiritual kingpin had taken a good course in bioengineering maybe I would not have this problem. She laughed.

I guess I am in for some minor surgery.

Anyone hear the Tom T Hall song, Who's goin'a watch my hogs?

I am thinking, Who is going to watch over my cows? Maybe Highgrit will drive up and watch them for me.

You're too darn far away for me to do you any good.

Every time I get over a head cold, we see some grand babies. I have 5 and she has 4. Normally I just tell everyone we have 9. One of hers is here all the time and I love that little devil. May as well be one of mine. It wouldn't be any different.

The liquid Municex, day and night, seems to help. The rest of it is just letting things take their course. She keeps putting away the humidifier. I keep dragging it back out each time I get the sniffles. Central heat dries this house out completely.

I hope the surgery goes well. There's nothing like being able to breathe :D

I feel for ya Inyati! The surgery in your case sounds like a good solution. I'll pray for ya :D . It seems respiratory issues are nailing more people than usual right now. And the problems seem to be lasting longer - harder to get rid off. My sinus problems finally went away but the chest congestion is being ornery. Clariten, Mucinex, and other decongestants are not working either. One buddy, whose father is a retired family doctor, took steroids to get rid of his similar problem. I don't understand that treatment and why it might help but am going to look into it.

Mine started out last Monday with a simple occasional tickle in my throat causing me to need to clear my throat. Next day it was a big worse along with a killer headache. Then came the nasal congestion. Yesterday and today all I've done is blow my nose, cough, snort and wipe my itchy eyes....don't feel all that bad but sure dont' feel like doing anything either.

You guys are great. Thanks Backhoe. I have a very fine friend who does a great job watching my cattle. He knows how particular I am and he even sends text photos to let me know they are ok.

If I take care of them and you come home and see one has a ham missing you'll know he was just too good to kill so I just cut off one ham. :lol2: :lol2:

If the surgery is not to necessary I would say 'NO'. I can tell you it is one of the worst ones I have ever had, it took nearly three weeks to get that awful taste out of my mouth, it tainted everything I ate, and drank. My eyes were black for at least a month, and it hasn't worked I get sinusitis every year. and the headache was like a bomb going off in my head. When the Doc said to me a few month ago to have it done again 'WHAT go through that again not on your nelly mate, what do you think I am mad' I had to be awake when I had it done and the feel of those tubes going around my face and head was sickening, and as I said the taste, the stuff looked like molasses coming out but no way tasted of it, and the smell was horrific. Hope I haven't put you off GOOD LUCK for the most awful op ever. I feel for you.

That's a GREAT song from Tom T Hall.. awesome storyteller :)

I am just getting over some sniffilis myself too.. Started with a dry throat a week ago, then progressed to my head feeling like a water balloon and my shoulders tightened up.. pretty much over the worst of it now except for a dry throat in the mornings... once I get my quart of tea into me and get active I'm pretty much 95% again.

I had a rooter job on my nose several years ago and it was OK until he started pulling the packing out a week later. Now that hurt. Good luck. For me it helped me breathe a lot better and also stopped my snoring (somewhat). Wife really liked that part.
