I was out today, nasty muddy holding pens, but decided to take some pictures. I thought I would share a few...
First up is some spring (almost) yearling heifers.
This is a Feb born Live Ammo sired heifer. I lost her dam over the summer to, what I think was, prussic poisoning. She was just 5 months old, so weaned early. Her dam is an Upgrade half blood.
This is a March Bandwagon embryo heifer. My daughter will likely show her this year. I have an embryo of this exact mating due at the end of the month, hoping for another heifer!
This is another embryo heifer, sired by Upperclass. I do not like her feet. We showed her a little this year, and she always won her class, however she is very moderate and will not likely compete this year because of her lack of height! lol
This is a May Revival heifer. We like her so far, and she is hoping to be shown by our daughter.
And this is one of two Spring bulls I kept, but more like Summer! He was born June last year, and needs to be weaned! I bet he is close to 750 pounds now, and he was not creep fed (I will weigh him this weekend when I hope to wean)! The heifer he is standing next to is a September yearling bred heifer, to give a reference on size. His dam always has a nice calf, weans them off big. I have not weaned him yet because he is a great heat checker for me!!! He tells me the cows are coming in 12 hours before they tell me!!!
One of my favorite fall heifers, this is a November Built RIght out of a first calf heifer (Wide Track sired). We call her Luna
On the left is an October Upperclass embryo heifer (out of one of Jeanne's cows, Zsa Zsa), on the right is the Built Right heifer above
This is a September Live Ammo sired calf, out of a Pacesetter cow. We call him Joker
On the far right is our Pays To Dream sired white faced bull, born in December, in the far back is a September Optimizer bull calf out of our Upgrade 3 year old (his granddam is the dam of the Live Ammo bull above). Butt towards us is also one of my favorites this fall, she is sired by Cut Above (better known as Fat Butt) and out of a Beef Maker x Pioneer cow. She is super thick for her age, and is showing promise! On the far left is the camera hog Built Right heifer
I call this guy booger nose (hehe), but the kids call him Roman. He is a late Nov Optimizer out of our Fat Butt x Built Right cow.
This is a Feb bull, sired by Live Ammo, out of a first calf heifer. We kept him back as a replacement bull. I think he has potential, and he is growing well.
This is a late Nov Iron Hide sired calf. I took pictures tonight because I need to advertise him to sell him. We keep our bulls until they are a year old, typically, then test them and sell them. I have been dragging my feet on this guy, to cold to go take pics and mess with the whole thing....
These two in the pasture together. There is cows across the highway, so they hang out there and bellar like bulls!
Thanks for looking!
