Took a small plane ride this week. I was amazed by the number of upright concrete silos in the area. Folks have been demoing them down for a while, and recently the Amish have been taking them down and reassembling the best parts. There are a number of farm sites with 3 or 4, and overall farm sites still average close to 2 each. Do you still see folks using concrete silos in your area?

everyone here has all new steel bins, fans, heaters, etc. They have bigger operations then most mills... by far.

Yes, all the small dairy farms had a couple of silos concrete or harvesters built long ago. They are still usable, so why
spend money in putting in new bunker silos like all the newer big operations when the old uprights have less spoilage
loss? I'd categorize it as small family farms making due with what they've got.

A lot of guys here put high moisture corn in them. They say it keeps better. Some still put silage but most now are bags or piles.
