I have a friend near the shuttle who went by boat to watch it pretty close up. We sometimes do as well but could not go over there tonight. It lit up all of Florida sky and was even visible in other states. He took a time lapse photo:

We watched from the south side of Haulover canal out near the east point. We had a clear view down the Lagoon to the shuttle launch pad. This is my first attempt at a time-lapse photo of the shuttle launch and it seemed to work pretty well.
Taken with a Canon 30D, Canon 10-22mm lens @12mm, f22, warming circular polarizer filter, 4+ minute exposure
