I synchronized my cows and heifers, and timed AI'd them today, and somehow one of my best heifers came out with a large lump on her shoulder. She can hardly walk, though she can do a mean 3 legged run. She will not tolerate any weight bearing on that leg, and holds it off the ground. I am going to move her back to a pen tomorrow, if I can separate her calf with her. From what I read on here and other forums wait and see is the only real world option. Is that right??? My VET is out of town on a trail riding vacation, and I will call him on Monday, but I guess what i am really asking is should she be euthanized, or should I give it some time? She is a great cow, and I do not want to lose her, but I do not want her to suffer either. thanks for listening, and I look forward to any advice you might have.
