Well the only thing I can say is that I should have known better. I pulled my three year old mare that I started last summer out of pasture last Wednesday, clipped her Thursday, and hauled her to a show Friday. She was in her stall Friday night and all day Saturday. About 2 on Saturday I figured she'd like some exercise so I was going to ride her. I got her tacked up and out to the practice arena. She was just acting like a knothead, hyper and not listening. Got into a canter and she started to buck. I got her stopped, got off, adjusted my saddle a little tighter figuring if she was going to jump I didn't want it slipping. Got back on and went around a few more times and then got back into a canter. Not a good idea, she began jumping like a saddle bronc. She got me leaning to the right and then jammed the saddle horn into my left knee, I went off and landed on my feet, but jacked up my right knee when I landed on it wrong. I walked her back to her stall, got the longe line, and took her out away from other horses and longed her good and then rode her for about 45 minutes. This was the first time I have ever been bucked off, I have rode some pretty fresh and onery horses, but my mare had to take me. I didn't and still don't hold it against her, she was just happy to be out of the stall, but I showed her she wasn't going to keep me off. When the saddle and bridle go on it's time to work.
