This morning the wife wished me a happy shortest day of the year. So I looked on weather underground at day length. It reported that tomorrow will be 2 seconds longer. Told the wife that and she replied "I am so excited".

I'll take colder. Then again it's still in the 70s around here.
It was 10 above when I went out to feed my calves this morning; it has been getting into the 40's during the day. There is a little snow in our forecast for Christmas day, but I don't expect to get much, but the mountains should fair amount. So far it has been a very dry winter, kind of like the winter of 2016/2017; I was creating dust when driving out to feed the cows. We didn't have any snow in December then either until after Christmas. The only difference between that year and this year is that I didn't take a second cutting because of equipment problems. I didn't get my first cutting in until 1st of August, and then more equipment problems when I was going to take my second cutting, so I decided just let the cows graze it. I am going to have to start feed soon. I think I can push it out until the first of the year unless we get a lot of snow between now and then.

We've had an Arizona winter here so far. Been in the 50s during the day and barely freezing at night. Most of the cows still on a lease coming home next week. Haven't fed a bale of hay yet. Best time for a drought around here is November-January, but it better start snowing by February, just not too much at once.

If any of you guys want winter come on UP. Nearly 100 inches of snowfall so far this season. Seen a few -20° nights and a few -10° days. Other than that fairly typical winter temps.

November was wet. December is being that way too. A few small snows that have been gone by the next day. But it is building up above 4,500 feet. Snow in the mountains is what provides our irrigation water. Temperatures have been mostly a little below freezing for a low and around 40 for a high.
