There have been 4 or 6 accidental shootings by police when the officer mistakenly grabbed their pistol when they intended to draw their taser.
I heard a fellow offer a simple safety solution.
Why not require pistol be worn on the left and taser on the right?

That way officer intending to shoot would need to make a conscience decision to draw gun by having to reach across their body for it.

Looks like we now have the expectation that our police are supposed to be perfect in their split second decisions and actions. If only we also had the expectation that our people and our leaders also be perfect in their decisions and actions. Even though they have time to think before they act - unlike the police many times.

Yeah - that's where I'd want my firearm in a situation where I need it - on my weak side across my body.

Was there any consideration for left handed law enforcement? There he goes again, thinking out loud!
Now I am wondering how many will respond on here who have never used a hand gun for any reason
let alone in a duty situation.

I’ll be honest I’m not a fan of the use of tasers. Those have led to fatalities as well with folks that have heart related issues. I think it may be redundant but maybe the general public if they don’t already know needs to be reminded or educated on the fact that law enforcement officers are armed and it should come as no surprise when noncompliance is met with necessary force. Like in all areas of society there are bad apples, but that does not mean all are nor does it negate the need for law enforcement. Law enforcement is a dangerous and essential job and while there are situations to be critical of, the fact is there are life threatening moments and split second decisions to made on their part.

This is what was reported. I read but didn't copy the link where 21 deaths occurred in the last year by "accidental" taser intended use.

The Minnesota cop accused of fatally shooting Daunte Wright was trained to place her Glock and Taser — which vary drastically in weight — on opposite sides of her holster, raising critical questions over the police killing.

Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon explained the placement during a press conference Monday, as he called Wright’s shooting death the result of an “accidental discharge.”

“For informational purposes, we train with our handguns on our dominant side and our Taser on our weak side,” Gannon told reporters at a press conference.

“If you’re right-handed, you carry your firearm on your right side and you carry your Taser on the left. This is done purposefully, and it’s trained.”

Don’t want to get shot comply.
When it gets to that point you’re taking the ride by cop car, ambulance or hearse. This is where the comply comes in.
Bingo!

I have also noticed that 98% of these folks shot by the police had prior run ins with the law and certainly should have known better than to resist arrest.

Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

Have you ever seen the Chris Rock video, "How Not To Get Your Azz Kicked by the Police"? It came out in 2007 & is hilarious but spot-on and resonates now, more than ever. It's very simple: obey the law. I'm not including the link because it may violate community standards - but seriously, Google & watch.;):ROFLMAO:

duh - i wrote right rather than dominant hand - to make it easier for me -
i assumed most would follow the thought - or agree to hire no left handed cops :)

I’m not really a fan of his but he told the brutal truth in that video.

Here's a video showing evidence of ..... well, stupid, ignorant, law breaking, disrespectful 16 year old.

WHEN Chauvin is acquitted based on non-media/BLM evidence; the streets will explode in violence.

Therein lies the rub. Military training and combat attitude for traffic cops who in reality are armed tax collectors acting under the guise of safety.

Mpls removed To Protect And Serve motto from police cars years ago
police union felt a message of servitude was demeaning to their warriors.

You have never seen combat attitude until US Marshall’s show up at your door at 2 AM.
Again comply cause your taking the ride. You can beat the wrap but you’re still taking the ride.

Exact argument made by police combat trainers.

Fact is when an officer is shot it's from an ambush style shootings, I can't think of a time or example where the speed of an officer's draw determined the outcome of his injury or death.... except once when a cop shot himself in the foot.

Law enforcement is dangerous, several years ago a Mpls cop was sitting in his car and bad guy azzxole nut job walked up and shot him behind the ear. He never saw it coming or had a chance.

I run like they do on cops. Anytime I see cops I drop every thing just run run run. 🤣 They caught me like why we running? I'm like heck I don't have a clue I was working out. 🤣🤡🤷🏽‍♀️😝

I 🙌🏾 hands up don't shoot regardless the reason... Michael Brown Aug 9, 2014 RIP I'm serious on that one.
