Im not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but i have a question concering wether i should keep a heifer or not. I have one that ive kinda took a liking too, however i dont know if i should keep her or not. Her mom is a good tempered cow and seems to raise a good calve, but it seems she falls off as far as body condition while she is nursing a calf. Also i had to have her rear hooves trimmed this year and the vet said its usually a genetic deal and itd prolly show up in her offspring. I had read somewhere that a lot of wet weather can cause theres hooves not to wear off like they should which could lead to the need to trim, i dont know if thats true. Anyways, i feel given the two issues if you will with her mom and the way prices are right now i should sell her. But like i said ive kinda tool a liking to her and have considered keeping her and letting her replace some of my herefords that im wanting to sell, shes a angus x gert cross. What do yall think?

She only has 50% of her moms genetics. If you like her, no harm in keeping her around and see how she does. You can always sell her later.
Prices are good for pairs, so either way. I think it is a personal/financial decision for you to make.

I would also say it's just up to you. If you need a replacement this year and she is your best option you could give it a shot. If you have plenty of room to keep her she could turn into a great cow.

I'm usually a sucker for keeping heifers, but the combination of her dam's feet and condition would probably have me leaning toward selling her. On the other hand, like bcg said, you can always sell her, but once she's gone she's gone. It doesn't sound like an issue where there's a definite right or wrong answer.

I would add don't get too attached to cattle unless you are ok with keeping them as pets if they don't produce. However, I agree you can always sell her later if it doesn't work out.
