There are some who says it is easyer to find sire prospects among terminal breeds than among maternal breeds. Does anyone agree with this? In that case; tell us why?

I dont know if its easier to pick herd sires from terminal breeds, vs maternal? I do think its easier to pick terminal sires than maternal however. Terminal bulls dont have to do as many things right.

my selection criteria is easy. I use my neighbor's bull for a terminal sire...you can bet anything that hit's the ground sired by him is going to market

A terminal bull only has to produce pounds to sell.

A maternal bull has to produce replacements that will hopefully be around for many years.

Not entirely. Terminal bulls can be had for improving carcass merit also. This seems to be a definite trend in reducing backfat and increasing REA, thus raising Lean Meat Yield above those pudgy/fat maternal characteristics some are so enamored with.

Lot of this going on now.

It is of course far easier to find a terminal sire; but the question was if it is more diffcult to find good bulls within a maternal breed than good non terminal bulls within a terminal breed?

I tink it is. With terminals all we look for is acceptable calving ease, decent weaning weight, muscle and carcass quality grade. There's a pot load of those even within the traditional maternal breeds.
With maternal traits it's a real balancing act. Don;t want to give up much if any quality ot muscle, but they haave to be easy calving, their daughters have to be easy calvers, acceptable weaning weights, moderate mature size, adequate milk without having to much, easy keeping and early maturing.
