north texas
Hi,

We've got a small 10acre plot we'd like to get established in some good bermuda. Hoping to do some light grazing on it and maybe bale some hay. Should we seed or sprig? We're located in north central texas ( can almost throw a stone into Okla:)) Around here seems alot of folks put in seed but I always thought that spring sprigging was a safer way to go.

Thanks
Theresa

if it was me id sprigg the 10acs.because spriggs can get established quicker than seeding.an the grass seed is very expensive.an takes alot of time to get established.an with seeding you may not get that good of a stand.for 10acs id buy 500bu of spriggs.an put 50bu to an ac.

Talk to the folks at the local NRCS office, they can help you plant it with the best chance for success. If you want Coastal bermuda you have to sprig because it cannot be produced from seed.
