Screw worms in Mexico

I heard a report that imports coming from Mexico has been stopped because a new screw worm was detected in southern Mexico, I remember them when I was a kid, they can be devastating.
I remember finding boxes that they dropped from airplanes that had sterile flies in them, it worked, they were eradicated, it especially helped the deer herd.
Will this cause prices to go up?

I remember having screw worm spray that you sprayed on cattle, horses...whatever.... when they got a wound.

That's scary. There are so many cattle
horses, etc that just cross freely back and forth from Mexico to the US.

So far, it is a 30 day temp ban.... but it could be extended and that could mean higher feeder prices... what Mexico would do with all the cattle, sitting there at the transfer stations, I don't know. Seems like @Warren Allison has more info from his contacts in Mexico.....

I remember the boxes too. We had jars of some kind of "dope" to slather on wounds. may still have one on a back shelf somewhere.

This particular report is from 2022.... not saying the illegal movement/trade of cattle has stopped or anything... Didn't read it all yet... but interesting....
