Friend's son went to visit a college he was interested in this last week. He liked the college because it has a good shooting team and he likes to shoot competitively. When touring the college he asked to see the shooting range but was informed they had to close it and didn't know if they would be able to ever open it. When asked why he was informed our POTUS had said there is no more need for marksman so he has told the Army they can no longer fund the range. He's looking at other colleges now.

I guess his thinking is you don't need marksman when you can blow up a mud hut and kill two people with an $80,000 missile shot from a drone.

Got to be some missing details. This sounds like misinformation Jo.

The Executive branch of our Republic does not have appropriation powers. That is the power of the congress. He can veto a funding bill but he cannot write his own changes. And remember how Reagan wanted a line item veto? The executive branch does not have line item veto powers. He can put forth an Executuive Order saying he does not support funding shooting ranges. That would not stop the funding unless the institution has some authority granted by congress to redirect the funds. For example, if the college has discretionary funding that funds the shooting range, the institution my redirect the funds.

It is amazing the statements one hears that this President is doing or is going to do. For example, conservatives around here like to say the president is going to run for a third term. That is unadulterated BS. In reality, this President is now the most LAME DUCK President I have witnessed in my lifetime!!!

One of the traits I like about a person is being objective regardless of their personal values and standards. I do not have a lot of good to say about Obama but if he does something good for the country, then I am objective enough to applaud it. On the other hand, if a Republican like Bush is a poor president and he was, then have the balls to call a spade a spade. That is the pathway to credibility!

This is a year old, but somewhat of a contradiction to what you heard:

If it wasn't for THIS president I would probably agree with you, Inyati. But this jerk seems to think he can do anything he feels like and no one challenges him.

Tell me some things that made Bush a bad president. Maybe I had my head in the sand (or some place else) but what?

While what you say is correct by law their seems to be lots of things going on that shouldn't because he wants them. One example, school lunches.

In general, lack of leadership. His inclination to involve the US in conflicts that were and continue to be a waste of life and money will get me started. I cannot imagine a worst policy than getting involved in a costly conflict when you have to barrow 40 cents of every dollar to finance it. If the US was fiscally sound maybe it would have been different.

Second, the guy never used his power of veto when congress sent him some of the worst appropriation bills in the history of the US. Bill Clinton was a far better president in my objective opinion. And as far as I am concerned if you take care of the finances, I don't care what he does with his penis.
