Scours

I've got a 45 day old calf with scours. It's kind of a grayish color. I just noticed this calf acting slightly off and it's back end is a mess. It's constantly looking like it's trying to defacate. . Tail stuck out, etc. I treated yesterday with some kind of oral probiotic from the vet, some tablets he gave me (5M2 960?). The 5 might be an S. Also gave batryl and bananine. He told me to give the tablets, oral probiotic and the batryl again Saturday. The calf is still acting off, not depressed but it's keeping to itself a lot and just slower moving. It's also acting slightly lame on one of its rear limbs. That could have happened yesterday when I was treating as it tried to go through the panel and almost succeeded. I just figured it would have improved the calls demeanor already. How long should I expect to see the calf appear more energetic and lively? I didn't see it nurse any today but did see it eating hay this afternoon. I checked it multiple times today and it was sleeping most of the day. When you approach it the ears are up and it is alert. Any words of wisdom anyone can offer? I plan to treat again tomorrow.

Checked them just now. The calf was up with the cow. The cows bag looks to have been sucked down at some point today or at least doesn't seem to be full right now. The weird thing is the calf is constantly licking the cow in the mouth or somewhere and just now it was literally trying to nurse from the cows chest. It was sucking it's heart out and bumped her chest a time or two. I've never seen one do that, makes me wonder what might be going on with this one. Odd behavior from an almost two month old.

This calf seems to have responded well to treatment--seems to be clearing up and I've seen it nursing. Its attitude is better and overall activity level is way up--

This calf is still having a pretty loose stool. It acts completely normal and you'd never know anything was ever up by its activity level, etc. it's nursing like crazy now as well. Should I look at additional treatment or just monitor for now? Momma had always had a loose still for the two years I've owned her. She is on going on 4 years old now and I've literally never seen her be solid. Quite a few others getting loose now with the green up. Still have free choice hay but their doing more grazing than anything. Any suggestions?

I should probably add that the color of the stool is normal now. It was very gray, now the typical brown. I will be checking back with my vet to see what he thinks as well

What Dun said.
The initial bout of scours can cause damage to the gut that takes a long time to fully recover.
Keep an eye on it and worm on schedule with the rest of the group and he should be fine - it does take time for them to catch up.
