Looking for my own set of scales under the chute. Criteria is that the chute is easily portable and I want to be able to weigh in different locations, including pastures. Not crazy about the aluminum platforms as I would have to have them outside the chute because it would raise the height in the chute too much, plus the cattle would balk at it.

Came across this from Pearsons, something that could be welded together and hauled inside the chute between locations.

Or would I be as well off to just buy a set like this and throw a 2x10 board underneath them before I lower the chute from the cart?

I don't think that frame has to be so thick, it looks like 50x50 RHS to me (2'x2") this just gives it extra height before you put your platform on. For portability just screwing it to that 2x10 board you putting down would do the job.
My platform is 3mm steel decktread and it sits directly on the load bars so the height is just that of the load bars. The strength comes from the frame around the outside that supports it and also acts as a lip so their feet don't slip off.
