a sale separating 2 and 3 month old calves isnt that a little early? would u be scared of buying the calves? this is a purebred sale.
 
Seems odd on a purebread sale. Never seen it happen.
At regular sales it happens and the cow goes to slaughter. Young calves take really good care to make them grow well.

I have seen people make money doing it. Those big old registered cows can weigh a lot! The pound price on kill cows figures up to a big per head price that a lot of folks never think of.

This will be the only opportunity for the potential buyer to get the calf which should be as good or better than the mother and at times will bring more than the mother regardless of age and size. And he simply may not want or need the mother cow. A lot of purebreds are bought for show calves this way as well.
