Are they Longhorns? If not you should be tickled with your check.

I'd say they were up a dime here on Monday while I was there. I heard the bidders really dropped off towards the end of the sale though.

Prices for the 5wt and 6wt calves are very inconsistent but usually between 1.10-1.21 per lbs for steers, 1.05-1.15 for heifers. Lot of mixed colored groups, very few uniformed black groups and seems that the buyers are preferred knife cut steers over banded steers which that's why we got $1.18 per lbs for our steers (averaged 605lbs) since we banded them. Char influenced feeders do poorly, usually between .90 to 1.00 per lbs. Intact bulls are .20 cents less. Our heifers did well averaged 660lbs and sold for $1.10. The belted steers weighted 607lbs, sold for $660 per head. One belted heifer is only 4 cents less than our heifers. Few belted feeders (other people's ones) only got docked for 5 cents. A group of Longhorn X Hereford steers sold for $1.17. Dairy X beef calves do poorly, none of them got past $390.

Not bad, Seem to be in line with prices here. Should pay to keep the cows around another year.
Me too, the prices didn't change much from last week and two weeks ago. I was shocked to see CharX feeders got docked hard this year and the belted X feeders outselling the CharX. Buyers are very fussy with banded, knife cut and vaccine types this time, hence the inconsistency in prices.

They must of been crossed with Brahman for that to happen.

Guy I used to work with sold 13 calves Monday. Averaged 400 lbs and got $1.08/lb for them. Don't know what number heifers/bulls.

Same here @ $1.20-1.30. Southeast calves are always cheaper due to freight though, didn't mention if they were bra influence either.

He did better than $0.80/lb someone else I know sold for 2 weeks ago.

I'm keeping my 5 calves through the winter. Fixing to pen them to wean off the cows.

Light calves have seen a good jump here this week due to it being time for turnout cattle, the rain starting to come and a little optimism starting to finally show itself on the board.
A buyer working an auction for me today said front end weaned steers weighing 440lbs. brought $151.50 today in Visalia and their heifer mates brought $128.50 at the same weight.
