Abbreviated report this week didn't stay for the calf sale.
Cow's down canner's to cutter's .57 to.87
Slaughter bull's low to mid .90's.
Back to farm cow's 750 to 1100 they were low quality.

I was in Navasota to judge the beef heifer show at the Grimes County Fair. Stopped in to watch some of the calf sale at Navasota Livestock. They had close to 1200 head today. Calf market was better than I expected after watching the Superior sale yesterday. Stopped in Buffalo and watched about 40 minutes of their sale. It was pretty much like Navasota. I called a friend of mine on the way home who went to Van Zandt Livestock in Wills Point. He said the market there was good, not a barn burner but better than last week.

Market was 3 to 5 higher hear this week, but numbers were very low only about 550 head. There were some 3 to 5 year old pairs for 1100 to 1300$ but they were not anything I would want even 1000$ in.

Our sale is early in the week but calves were a couple cents higher. Quality seems to be the problem though.
The pairs still traded good from 1400-1650. Pulled a dead calf today from a heifer that checked 8 months bred on Monday. The front legs pulled off even though it was a fairly easy pull. You can guess how that smelled. I got it out and the heifer seems ok.
