ryegrass for youg holsteins

i was thinking of planting some ryegrass this fall and starting a few young holstein steers on it around late oct or nov. will this feed about 4 130lb steers per acre through the winter. i plan on selling them around may. will this work or is it not possible. second what type of rye grass do you like for ky marshall or italian ryegrass. thanks for all comments

give Gary Lacefield a call at the University of Kentucky... I think he would recommend italian ryegrass.

Make sure you get a "true" italian ryegass... some companies market italian ryegrass but its really on annual (like marshal). Try Feast II or Spring Green. Those are both true italians.
