Moved cows yesterday. It was time for the cows to come home, they were out of grass where they were. The pasture was pretty easy to gather in as they were all on the east end, we had to cross the highway, and then drive them nine miles to my uncle's neighbor's corrals. I had four riders and myself on the ATV. That ATV beat me up, I'm a bit sore tonight. It didn't take all that long to gather them, but it took about four hours to move them to the corrals. I had one guy that was going to help, but never showed; he was supposed to ride over the ranch with me; I ended up giving him a call, and woke him up. If your not going show you can at least call, not leave someone hanging. I won't be calling him again. I was up at 4am, waited an hour for the no show, and got home last night about 8:30pm. Was up again a four this morning to drive back, the truck showed up at 8:30, by all were unloaded. The trucker backed into my loading chute to hard. In order for trucks to back into we had to make almost a 90 degree corner. Looks like I am going to have to rebuild it next summer, for now I will just push it back with the tractor.
We stopped at a pond because we knew that once we got them in the corrals they would not get any water until the got to the farm today. A couple calves ended up going for a swim.
I wish I had this chute at home. I thing this thing will last until eternity. The neighbor has a nice working corral.
