I have been a Vermeer owner for nearly forty years and have been quite satisfied with the balers.
In 2020 we decided to do some high moisture rolling and I traded for a 604R Vermeer Signature
Never have been really satisfied with it. Does great with the dry hay but struggles with the high moisture.
Question is what are your opinions on the different brands
on the market these days.

Honestly talk to 20 operators and you'll get 25 opinions.

Personally I wouldn't trade my New Holland 4x6 crop cutter baler for anything but a newer one. Don't have any complaints with its performance in both wet or dry hay. And the "local" dealer support is as good as you could want.

I have a JD458SS. Couldn't be happier. I have a 456ss also as a back up, which was my primary prior to getting the 458. There are quite a few significant improvements from the 6 series to the 8 series. The 456SS really struggled with wet hay, but it would(and still does) eat dry hay like a beast.
