Little HOSS said he wanted to be Robin Hood. He is actually getting pretty good at sending arrows down range.

Jo, he asked me when he would get to use the "sharp" arrows and climb up into the "stand tree" :) He is only 3 but he can nock and shoot the arrows all by himself like an old hand. He even knows to put the cock vane out when nocking. We have been Roving the last few evenings. We walk through the pastures and woods and I point out things like stumps and logs to shoot at. He doesn't realize it yet but I set up the shots to resemble hunting situations like shooting lanes etc. When he can pull 40 lbs on a compuond and keep his shots all in an 8" circle I will let him hunt deer. Now just roving and stump shooting. It will be a few years before he gets through the stumps then rabbits and finally deer.

He has been watching Disney's Robin Hood for weeks now. He wants to be like Robin Hood. I made the back quiver out of some naugahide for him. He will shoot for hours if I let him.

I give him no longer than three years. My eldest shot his first deer at 6 and if you look real close at my left eybrow you'll see the scar the scope left on me. :lol2: It hurt like he77 but it sure made his day and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Yes he will be out there after deer with a gun by 5 I am guessing. That is when I started. I was hunting deer by myself when I was 8 or 9. Our house was built on one side of my grandfather's farm so it was just a matter of going out the back door and over the hill to where the gas line cut through the woods. I sat many hours on a stump looking down that gas line strip waiting on my first buck. 8 and 9 year olds don't hunt by themselves anymore. It is funny how times change.

Judging from the determination in his eyes and the broad shoulders and muscular arms that definitely aren't from sitting in the house playing Wii like many kids his age, I still think he'll be shooting a few sharp arrows within three years - with or without your knowledge. ;-) :lol2:

He is big for a 3 year old. He weighs 42 pounds. He is a strong little booger. He can do chin ups one after the other on the treadmill handles  He has a pedal tractor that he ties his Radio Flyer wagon to. He fills it full of rocks then lifts his bike up on top of the rocks and pedals that tractor all over the place. My legs get cramps just from watching him. His are as hard as oak staves. If I had his energy I would be a multi-millionaire :)

He plays out in the yard all day long until we make him come in. He is obsessed with guns,bows,4-wheelers and tractors. We have to hide the keys to them. His dog weighs about 50 pounds and he thinks the dog is a WWF Primetime opponent. The dog loves it...... ........I have never seen a dog that enjoyed headlocks, ear pulls, leg sweeps, tail jerks and body slams as much as this one.

Heck who knows? Maybe after his pro football career he can have his own hunting and fishing show. He looks like a linebacker to me :tiphat:
