Ring around lower part of tail

I noticed today, one of my mature cows (about 10 year old) has a fleshy ring on her tail about a foot from the end. It looks like the end is rotting away. Any ideas as to what this is and how to treat? Other than that, she looks OK and was grazing the pasture this afternoon with the rest of the herd.

Any ideas as to what this is and how to treat? Other than that, she looks OK and was grazing the pasture this afternoon with the rest of the herd.

Damaged and infected is my guess.

Flies may make it worse - so I would not delay.

Treat and wait for it to heal or drop off.
