I knew they had tried to reintroduce them in North Carolina, but thought that they given up on that project,
Is anybody familiar with these gulf coast canids? Are they supposed to be red wolf descendants? Are they just larger coyotes?
It looks like the southeast is going to be getting wolves back whether we want them or not in the future if those folks have their way,

It's clickbait, notice they don't show pics or actually mention what they are. They're simply coyotes. Nearly all coyotes east of the Mississippi have small amount of wolf DNA. It's nothing new, or really all that interesting. But it is a way for "researchers" to keep the tax money rolling in.
Yeah, I figured it was probably just coyotes.
I believe the remaining red wolves are probably high percentage coyotes too

There is a lot wrong with the red wolf theory. The first being they were possibly a wolf coyote hybrid to begin with.

I have always thought if the good lord puts anything like the wolves, mountain lions, bears, river otters, whatever here, i will just have to deal with it. But in 20 year we went from no bear to them being a pest. I have seen 2 cubs killed on the highway this week. The river otters were stocked in Tennessee and now they have ruined our small streams. Nothing left to fish for.

Wasn't red wolves released years ago in the Land Between the Lakes, KY?
