Red Angus Question

After looking at several Red Angus at the NAILE last week I have a question.

If the only difference between a Red Angus and a Black Angus is the recessive red gene color then why do so many Red Angus have white switches?

As goofy as the black ANgus folks are for all black they probably culled them out. After all, look at some of the great genetics they dumped when they got rid of the red.

you may be right when i see a red angus, i wonder what it would look like black ,before the butts and gutts where bred out.

I guess nobody can explain why some Red Angus have a white switch....................Hmmmmm

Last year I was invited to the States by a very well known AI Company to visit their facilities, while there I saw a very famous black angus bull with the end of the tail white !!! I told them that I don't saw that white tail in their catalogue and they just smiled :lol2:

I don't have any problem using that bull, we sell meat not colours :cowboy:

The Red Angus Association does not descriminate about a white switch. I believe whit behind the navel is allowed but not in front of the navel. I guess it has just been accepted and more numerous as time goes on.

I've never seen any pictures, but I've heard the old angus had white all under them.
