With all you folks droughted out, I feel quilty posting this--but will to show you there is hope...Last year we were about burned up in this state- this year we feel we've gone monsoonal...

Sprinkled and misted all day yesterday--Started in raining last night- rained all night- is still raining...I've picked up another .8 over the night...Glasgow is now well over 6 inchs for the month now since it rained after this report (last year we never even got 11 for the year)... We're over 8 at the ranch...

Yesterday the talk of the town was how this country could go from drought to beautiful so quick...Last year the pastures looked like pure sh!t- and most the water holes were dry by July/August-- now this year noone can get their springwork done because of water and mud...

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GLASGOW MT
0200 AM MDT THU MAY 31 2007 ...
RECORD MONTHLY RAINFALL SET AT GLASGOW...

A RECORD RAINFALL AMOUNT FOR THE MONTH OF MAY WAS SET AT GLASGOW. THE NEW RECORD IS 5.98 INCHES...WHICH SURPASSES THE OLD RECORD OF 5.69 INCHES SET IN 1899 AND 1906. THE FINAL RAINFALL TOTAL FOR MAY OF 2007 WILL BE HIGHER AS RAIN CONTINUES TO FALL.

We're in the same situation. Though I don't think we've set any rainfall records, it's very green and very wet. This time last year we were afraid to leave home because of the fires around. We've had eight inches since Thursday night. Five of it fell Thursday night through Saturday. I keep watching the weather, hoping those folks in the SE will get some rain. They seem to be hopeful for you guys next week. Got my fingers crossed for you.

Lake Okeechobee in florida is the lowest it has ever been in recorded history. the bottom of the lake is on fire in spots.

AN ADDITIONAL 0.62 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION HAS FALLEN AS OF 1400
THURSDAY MAY 31ST MAKING FOR A NEW RECORD MONTHLY TOTAL OF 6.60
INCHES...SHATTERING THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 5.98 INCHES
. THERE IS
THE POSSIBILITY THIS TOTAL WILL BE HIGHER AS THERE IS A 50 PERCENT
CHANCE FOR ADDITIONAL PRECIPITATION THIS EVENING.

I can't believe the hayfields-- I have new grass and alfalfa plants coming up in hayfields that I haven't spread seed in (with the fertilizer) for 3-4 years because of the high cost of the fertilizer....

Rain stopped about noon- which was when I had to go to town to do some horse inspections for the horse show folk- then went to the cow sale...Smiles everywhere...Ended up with 1.1 inches, but predictions its supposed to move back on us tonite.....

Then had to stop at the waterhole--place was full of farmer/ranchers--and in the true pattern of farmers/ranchers I did hear the bitches (altho they all had a smile on their face as they complained)...First was that we were getting so much rain that the grass hay was lodging and it was going to be tough to keep from plugging up swathing  Then I heard the topper- one of the guys that run cows out in the Willow Creek area where I posted the pictures of the flooding was complaining " that his calves were going to come in 50 lbs light this fall cause the grass was so high the calves couldn't find the teats" :???:

He won the biggest Bullthrower award for the day..... :D

Sure nice to see folks smiling after last year......

Sounds like the dream I keep having. Oldtimer, since you are getting all the rain, seems the least you could do is ship us some of those prairie dogs so they won't drown. Got plenty of high and dry land they can dig their little holes in and then I can take my frustrations out on them with my rifle. Also, maybe Beefy and I could set up one of them pay hunt deals - Cactus Safari Hunting Guides - and make tons of money off them Atlantians. That is if Beefy don't land the part in the Hogzilla movie and get all hoitytoity on us. ;-)

last nite parts of western nebraska got more rain in one day then they have gotten in the past 4 or 5 years  it has just started raining here...AGAIN! gggrrr. the wheat and oats are gonna start gettin desease for sure now, the corns gonna get weedy cuz you cant get in the fields to spary, hardly any acres are planted of beans cuz its too muddy. its from one extream to another. theres no such thing as a "happy meduim" is there.

Oldtimer, Bet you folks aren't venturing to far off the surfaced roads. I'm glad it's raining out there. :D

FOX NEWS WEATHER says N FL and S GA should get some rain tonight. I'm hoping for you folks.

Hold the dogs! 70% chance tonight and tomorrow!!! *dancing in the kitchen*

Yeah, at first they didn't think it would make it past central Fl (the rain). Now this mornings news says it will make it all the way up the state and even as far as SC.

I may still get one cutting of hay this year.............
