Thought I would share some recent pictures. Spring is definitely here now. Grass is starting to come the last week or so, but sure could use some rain to really get it going. Would be nice to start hauling out some pairs & stop feeding so many...especially now that seeding has started. Soon hopefully. Just about done calving now, I think it's about 25 left to go. Quite a few look pretty close, but there's a few that will be stragglers.

Anyway here's a few pictures from the past couple of weeks, in no particular order

These pairs agree - +30 C is way to hot for the beginning of May! These are all pairs out on a combo of stubble/pasture. 20 less we have to feed everyday.

They don't look like they are starving out there

I thought this action sequence was pretty good:

Sold this big guy a couple weeks ago. Hated to see him go but he crippled himself fighting last December. Could hardly walk and was pretty much completely non weight bearing on one rear leg. Thought we were going to have to shoot him & make a pile of hamburger. Had a couple people tell us that an injury like that would heal up good enough to salvage him but that it would take a lot of time. 5+ months later - it wasn't pretty when he walked, but he got around ok and seemed sturdy on his legs. We took him to the sale expecting to get somewhere between 80-90 cents for him, he brought a $1.15. That's a whole lot better than burger!

As always, thanks for letting me share.

Love the pictures Creekdrive! Hate that about your bull but sure not a bad payday for a crippled one. The action photos are my favorite nothing I like seeing more than happy calves!

It sure did suck to go check on the bulls one day & the see the shape he was in, would've liked to have used him for a few more year. He had his faults for sure, but overall he was a real good bull for us. Time will tell but looks like his daughters are going to make good cows too.
Here's a couple pictures from last summer when he was in prime shape:

He was a son of SAV Camaro. Had a real good temperament, nice thick calves & calves came easy even though EPD wise he didn't really have great numbers. We used him on cows & heifers with no problems. And his sons that we sold last year have calved easy for their new owners. Have a 2 year old son that we kept back to replace him (he was rented out to a guy as a yearling, would usually have sold him as a 2 yr old but he just looked too dang good). In some ways he is better than his sire, hopefully his calves are as good too. I don't seem to have a decent photo of him, but next time I see him I will try and get one.

Man I felt bad for you when you told us about the bull, seeing these pictures I feel even worse. That was a really good bull I love the thickness and depth of body. I bet his son does you a great job.
