How quickly after calving can a cow come back into heat and rebreed? Still have the bulls in with the pairs and am starting to see the boys getting interested.

I have seen them as early as a little less than two weeks. I want them to have at least one heat to clean before I even think about re breeding. If you don't want your girls bred yet I would pull your bulls.

I've seen them breed at around a month, but we have one cow that settled 18 days after calving.

Pretty much the same deal here, soonest after calving that i have seen one settle is 17 days.

I have heard that simmental cows typically start cycling sooner after calving than other breeds and having them settle at around 20 days after calving is not unusual at all. Don't know how much truth there is to it, but thought it interesting (if its true).

a cow can come into heat anytime after she calves.if her body is ready to come into heat.i bought an exposed reg beefmaster cow last year.the seller thought she was open when i bought her.but she was bred an settled 49 days after she calved.this year i seen her in heat 76 days after she calved.that most likely was her 2nd or 3rd heat cycle.

I have seen a cow in her prime come into heat 13 days after calving. This is the exception and not the norm, but I would pull your bulls if you don't want them bred.

Most cows will cycle 4-6 weeks after calving, based on my observations.
