Had to ease this cow and calf pair above over to the fence so I could snare it and drag it under the fence to get it tagged and banded. She is very protective.

Calf went under Ginny after I tagged it.

Excellent pics once again Dylan. I always enjoy seeing your ranch pics and very nice cattle. I hope some day to see it for myself. :tiphat:

Good cowhorse! We just got a new cowhorse, a sorrel Quarter gelding. Needs more work with him as we only had him for a month.

Nothing like time and wet saddle blankets to make a horse.
I got Ginny as a long yearling, she is a bit moody, but so am I. She didn't grow quite as tall as I had hoped but she is light smooth and very quick to learn. Her lack of hieght does put me closer to ground and makes it easier for me to get on. Though since my hip replacement I can get on our bigger geldings with out the aide of a fence or a big rock or a blowout. Reminds me of when I was a kid. :D

How old is your gelding and what was his previous experience?

Thanks Iso, you are welcome any time. We have a decent bunch of saddle horses and plenty to eat! :D

Anazazi, I like most of my mongrels in a good way also.

Knersie, she is one of my favorites, only time will tell the whole story. So far her function mirrors her form. My challenge is that of replication.

When you get that replication down I would sure like a couple potloads of them.

We have three cowhorses here, one is 20 years sorrel Quarter X Arab cross gelding (our first horse since he was a yearling), 5 years old dun Quarter mare and the new horse is 8 years old. The new gelding is used to be in cows sorting games for few years but the mud area is new to him and also he is new to the cattle dog.

Mares..ugh always being moody for the work which that is why my dad got another gelding lol

Man that is some flat country. I doubt my cows would know how to walk on it much less have a calf on it.
Great pics and thanks for sharing them with us.

Nice pics! Bad cows are mutts, those are good so they must be composites! You know, just like poor people are crazy but rich people are "eccentric"?

I really liked that red cow in the side shot too, and looks like the Tar influence cow inherited the good udder.

Great work by the horse with the calf under it, must be a good disposition to start with, and some good training too.

Dave, I will be sure to let you know. :)

MO-cows, thanks. I ahve had Tarentaise with great udders and some that were disasters. Big M Senator 173U gave me some horrid udders.

Crimsoncrazy, she has both eyes, just looks she is missing one.
