has anyone got any experience with a ram. what do you think of them. and while i am on here I want to thank everyone for the time and knowledge that is shared on here. I don't post that much, mainly just visit every night and see whats new and i really enjoy this site. Ya'll don't know me from jack but i feel like i kindof know each of you. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

My only experience with them is that they aren;t very efficient in moving water. To get the amount of water we needed we used a ram to get the water to a 10k gallon holding tank then used gravity from the hoding tank to to use the water.

They are positive displacement pumps, capable of extreme pressure. They are not efficient for pumping a lot of volume. As you probably know, water does not compress. You had best have enough relief capability or else you are going to burst some pipe. They are ideal for pumping a large head (lifting) but you had better have strong enough pipe to withstand the pressure.

These type pumps are ideal for lifting small volumes of water big distances. Kind of like lifting with a windmill 400 feet in the ground to a holding tank.
