Neighbor's and I have been puttin extra money in the plate at church we have strong suspicions that the preacher aint passing it on.
We didn't get enough rain to settle the dust here yesterday. We are getting in serious trouble fast.
 
No rain is a bad thing, the only up side now is it's going to rain sooner or later. I hope it's sooner, good luck.
 
We got 6" in 24 hrs last week, and 3/4 so far today. Wife's preacher said that's what happens when too many people pray for the same thing at the same time

CB, the only time I have worked in the Big Thicket was after Hurricane Ike. Hard to think about it ever being dry there. Hope you get some rain soon.
Mud here, 2" last night.
 
If it were to rain here right now I would have a stampede, whole crop of calves that have never been wet.
Went to the catfish pond yesterday to pick the ticks off them.
 
What with all these high winds and temp. in the 80's you can see the fields and the tanks drying out more each day.Wheat 4 in high and already getting heads on it,rye grass stopped growing,exept in the woods.This keeps on we will have to start on the hay feeding.Probably downsizing a little also.
That is if a fire don't wipe us out first.I have about 40 more acres of new cleared land just waiting for rain so I can get in and plow it up.At the time I'm doing fence repair and carrying rocks in my pockets to keep from being blown away.GOT DUST-NEED RAIN!!!

Cutting out the middle man...Guess it does save wear and tear on equipment plus saves on fuel. About to get culled to a point where I should have enough hay left from 2007 and last year to make it till Fall......maybe.
 
yes we all need the rain pretty bad here right now.i dread thinking about whats going to happen if we dont get enough rain to keep grass growing an make a cutting of hay.talked to a friend the other day,an he is already culling his herd down.an i dont want to think about buying hay this year.

And you need rain? I had two cows fighting over an old tractor fan belt they found in the pasture. If thats a picture of your place right now your cows would commit suicide if you dumped them here and seen where you left them.
The ones that didn't would need strong bifocals to see the grass.
Yaupon and leaves are looking like real good grazing here.
 
Caustic...Planted September 20 and came up with a 6/10ths rain Santa Clause brought on Christmas Eve. Got another 3/10ths the 29th of December and 1 6/10ths on January 9. March 23rd a big rain of 1/10th... total of 2 6/10ths. Problem is this patch is only 6 acres with another 14 acres of ryegrass that is about 6 inches tall next to it...It's all that's left. (cost ran about $80 an acre)... Been running 60% of normal capacity. Sort of translates to overstocked again since no spring hay will be taken.
 
I have the opposire problem. It rained 28 of 31 days last month. It is looking dry for today and this will be the first dry day this month. I sure wish some of these storms would track further south and leave me alone for a while. The cows aren't leaving the concrete at the barn and feeder because the rest of the winter lot is just too deep in mud.

I can;t grow grass like this in the best of years under irrigation. Vette if you want to cheer yourself up, come and pay me a visit and I'll show you what a real drought looks like.
 
Dryland hay..if we dont get rain soon..will be almost non exsitent this year..and drive up the cost of hay tremendously.
We'll be irrigating and fertilizing soon..sprayed for hoppers this time too..:)

My bigger fear is wildfires..there was a big one down near Archer County earlier this week.
