Thought's on the new EPD - not that we don't have enough to keep up with already.

Residual Average Daily Gain (RADG), expressed in pounds per day, is a predictor of a sire’s genetic ability for postweaning gain in future progeny compared to that of other sires, given a constant amount of feed consumed. Genetic evaluation procedures encompassing results for weaning weight, postweaning gain, subcutaneous ultrasound, feed intake and genomic results result in the RADG EPD as a selection tool.

I have this EPD on a few cows/heifers/bulls but not many.

There are people already searching for the sires with the highest numbers to use for breeding. :lol2: Probably the next train wreck in the breed. Predestined has the highest accuracy and an average value.

Yep-- another number folks can do single trait selection with to make the next "greatest"-- that they can use emotion, commotion, and promotion with in their dream to overnight wealth... ;-)

Connealy Impression is #1 on the new number-- with +41-- But his EN$ is -$21.81 and WN$ is $23.64--- so if you're chasing the numbers- unless you are going with a one trait outlier breeding wouldn't it be better to go with something like a DDA Emblazon 27C EN + $15.68, WN +$31.68, and RADG still a respectable herd average +.13 or a Danny Boy with EN + $19.74, WN $31.88, and a RADG of +.15 :???:

Moderation in all levels might not get you that next greatest $250,000 AI sire - but it sure makes a heck of a lot better cow herd......

I like Predestined better than all of those, he is about breed average for $EN, has a $W over 40, and his RADG is about average. Not to mention his carcass value and he has produced some nice females. I have a nice little heifer calf out of him, she is starting to look really good. If they would fix this website I could post some pics. :D
