Funny what some folks will do in TX,which president was it that was visiting TX ? I think Ronald Reagan any way they were doing a new cast welcoming him to TX and give him a tamale at an outdoor shindig,he started eating it shuck and all, kinda funny to see that look on his face when some one told him to peel the shuck off :D ................good luck

Actually I believe it was Gerald Ford who failed to shuck his tamale before trying to eat it.

You folks in Tx. ain't no different than us in Ga. Except for the false pride that you cling to dearly. If that statement PO's half the folks on this board, good. I bet most of you Texans are only 2 or 3 generations removed from Georgian immigrants fleeing the reconstruction.

We did pass through Ga. just didn't see anything worth stopping for. Got to Texas in the 1830's and settled in the Republic of Texas. Texas wasn't for the faint of heart with Commanches and Kiowa.

.......and your grandpa was Capt. Call. and Augustus Macray.

No mine where real and not fictional
Capt. H. Clay Davis (Sep 1852 - 1853)
Capt. Will W. Davis (July 1919 - February 1921)
Actually it was my grandpa and great great grandpa.

Camp, I'm neither mad nor jealous. I love Texas. Been all over it a hundred times. All I'm saying is, Texans are no differenmt than other Southerners except for their propensity for conceitedness. Of course, I don't mean everyone in Texas is arrogant or conceited, but it is a pretty common personality trait there.

Naw its Pride and we have a lot to be proud of.
The people that settled Texas were a tough lot, not saying other states didn't have there trails and tribulations also.
I am 5th generation Texan and a lot of it goes back to we were a Republic that won our freedom and chose to join the union. The United States had to have Texas not the other way around. Without Texas the U.S. could not achieve Manifest Destiny of the Monroe doctrine.
