I have an opportunity to purchase a (used) V-Mow 165 drum mower. It looks identical to the one on the CCM website. On the back of the machine is a Lely manufacturing sticker. I know you sell the CCM machine new. Is this the same machine? It needs a new curtain and blades (I'll be ordering those from CCM). Other than that it is in good shape. Belts look good. If anyone else has recommendations or ideas, I'm all ears.

Lely no longer has parts for those drum mowers. We are an authorized Lely parts dealer and they are just not available. As far as the mower, it is not much different that the current HayMAXX drum mower we sell but the parts are not interchangeable.

Thanks, that tells me to keep away. You sell both the drum and disc mower. Which is a better machine. I am looking to put up grass hay here in Washington. Not very much, about 20-30 acres. I have a 40 horse tractor. I appreciate you telling me there are no parts for that mower.

Another reason to stay away is you mentioned needing a curtain. I have an old PZ machine and I removed the curtain one day by catching a piece of wire in the cutter blades. Priced a replacement curtain at over $500.00. I think the company that took over building the PZ had a curtain at over $400.00 - still pricey.

You need to look around on disc mower curtains because we sell replacement disc mower curtains for $250 or LESS.

Well, I will be contacting you when I get my gearbox rebuilt. Bush Hog wants $550 for a curtain. I was going to make my own out of some real heavy canvas.

Ironpeddler, do you have one that will fit a 9 foot cutter?

I figured someone would have replacement curtains for a heck of a lot less. I just couldn't find anyone at the time and couldn't see $400 for one. There's just not that much there to warrent that kind of price.

Flaboy, you might try one of the builders of those covers for dump trucks and trash haulers. They use some pretty heavy duty material and have several colors to chose from if that's important to you. I checked in on getting a curtin made there and they shot me a price of $100 max. I would have had to put to grommets in it but big deal. $100 is a lot better than $400 (or more)

Exactly Earl, that is what I was planning. Get that real heavy canvas and even double it if I had to and put the grommets in it and I am in business for $100-$150.
