Question about my young bull

My neighbor wanted me to raise him one of my bull calves this year. This bull is the only one I got. He's out of my best commercial angus cow and my bull who was a New Design 878 son out of another one of my commercial cows. Anyhow, he is 4 months old and I was wondering about his sheath. He seems to have a bit of extra skin on his belly? My neighbor has lower end cattle, but I still don't want to sell him a bull that's not gonna work. Based on the two crappy pics I took, does anyone see a problem with him? Thanks-

I don't know why photobucket resizes my pics and they are off center? I had this bull in the center of the shot and when I resized them it always cuts off the right side of the shot. :devil2:

The main concern is injury. Some bulls will let the prepuce hang out when relaxed and it seems to be more apparent with bulls that have a sheath that isn't tight. It can lead to grass seed problems or injury. Besides, it's another reason to dock a calf in the sale ring.

He's fine. He's also a very nice calf. Should work for him.

Thanks 3way. I didn't think it was a big problem, I just don't want to sell my neighbor a bull with issues so I asked. Too bad you can't see his face. He just got done fighting with a pile of dirt...

I think he looks really good at 4 months!
Brangus are a bit "sheathy" because of the Brahma side, and I have never had a problem as B&M describes with mine, or any breeders that I know. He is probably right about the sale yards being hard on non-eared cattle being sheathy. But I don't know.

Nice calf. My Hereford bull's sheath looks just like it. I was told that maybe he had a little navel infection when he was a baby. It sure doesn't hurt him a bit. He should be just fine. I really like him for his age! B&G :tiphat:

Thanks Black and Good. Here's his 1/2 sister at 4 months. She's a keeper for me. It seems my herd of scrubs is getting a bit less scrubby! :D

What kind of hefier is she? I really like her she's fancy! Its funny cause I've got one that was born this year that's a twin to her! She's 50% Polled Hereford, 50% Black Gelbvieh looks just like her. B&G

Thanks! I really like her. All my calves this year seem to be really nice. I know one thing, they sure are tame. Most were born in December and being as it was so cold, I had a lot of contact with them the first few days of their life. They are a real nice group to work with.

Anyhow, she's a mutt crossed with a mutt. Her mother has the frame of a holstein, with the build of a cape buffalo. :) I'm guessing she is mainly angus, but I'd bet $10.00 there is some holstein in there someplace. All of my calves this year were sired by a New Design 878 bull calf I kept out of a commercial cow I have, I believe she is herford/angus/ plus something else (she's red with a white face). Actually this calf looks like her grand dam on her sires side.

I really like that heifer! very nice.
Also, I agree with the rest of em.. the bull is fine.
