Our bottle calf has been in a 16 X 24 or so stall in the barn, with a heat lamp, while Spring has decided whether or not it's coming . . . . or not yet. Grass is greening, but weather is still a bit goofy. Seemed like it was on the way the last few days. We went out to put up panels today, so the boy has outside play-pen time for nice weather, and did it in cold, wind and sleet. Not yet, I guess.

Winter is losing its steam thankfully. I'm sitting on pens and needles right now due to my little hay accident. One good thing about it, its made me grab every roll of hay I had tucked here and there.

I won't tell you the price, Jo, since it's west coast price, but we were able to secure some good hay recently from last year's orchard grass crop (and we bought same from the same guy last year) at $50/ton or so less than we paid for it in 2012. We hooked everything he had left.
