I went to Hill Country Cattle "Back to the Basics Simmental Bull and Female Sale" in Fountain Run, KY and bought a Reg. 3/4 Simmental 1/8 Angus 1/8 Horn Hereford yearling bull (HILCO Vegas 1516C). Purchased him for $2000. Decided I would just use him on the heifers this year instead of AI. I'll try and get a pic up later. 54 lots averaged $2776.85 according to my figures. High seller went for $14,000 and the lowest sold for $1,100.

I got the lot 3 heifer from that sale. I think the quality for $$ spent that's always been a good sale.

frieghttrain, Thanks! I'll see what I can do, my latest camera I purchased is just junk. Just won't focus and blurs and makes the pics fuzzy and dull. Looks like I'll be camera shopping sometimes.

jd720, You got a nice heifer. If I had been heifer shopping she would have been on my bidding list. Nice bull's in her pedigree Cowboy Cut, Singletary, and High Regard. I agree with the quality for the $, thought many more would have sold for more.

TT, I was a bit concerned with that but think the heifers I'll breed to him are likely homo polled. Think he'll blend really well with my blaze face Packin Heat son's daughters. This bull's sire TNGL Vegas Z442 has a blaze face and his sire Dream Catcher has a blaze plus the 1/8th Hereford should help retain some chrome on the face. Figure I'll resale him after getting the heifers bred. Would be more worried with horns if he was going to be the full time herd bull. Still got a few dehorned cows and a few carrying the gene.
