Nikki is a little over 4 months old now and I have noticed that some of her teeth were really wearing down. Last night I noticed that her 2 top front teeth wer nothing but tiny little stubs and one was sort of bloody. She has been teething more than usual as her new ones should be coming in soon but...

Is this normal for a pup to wear them out to just stubs or is something wrong with her teeth , like they aren't strong enough. She gets the best puppy food out there that is supposed full of all the nutrients etc that a growing pup should have and the vet checked her mouth at the beginning of the month when she was in for her last puppy boosters and never said anything about the wearing of the teeth.

So Help please.. I know I am a worry wart but I sure would hate for something to be wrong ...

don't worry they will fall out when it's time. GEEEEEEEEEEEZZZ HD take a chill pill. That puppy will be just fine in spite of your worrying ;-)

I've never noticed one wearing his/her teeth down like you describe, but milk teeth fall away to new teeth @ 13-14 weeks if I remember correctly. I found several of Beggar's baby teeth on the wood floors as she lost hers. They were all still sharp as needles though. Any chance these appear stubby because they are the new teeth emerging, not the baby teeth?

Thanks, I looked again. It is two new teeth coming through on the top. She also has two rows on the bottom , the stubby ones in front and bigger ones coming in behind them.. I guess she has started losing her teeth already..

:D At 4 months they lose the middle ones, then a set a month til the new canines come in at 6/7 months.

I called my vet today about her baby teeth still being in while the new ones come behind and she said not to worry now,but if they are still there in a few months then she may need them pulled. She said to check and see if they are loose so I wiggled one and it came out in my fingers. She lost 2 more sometime last night. So I think things are normal as they should be.

Thanks for all of your help.. :)
