Hats off to whoever it was that predicted Opie would get punked.

If you read this article explaining why the change of mind do not think of everything our anointed one said leading up to this because it will make you sick to your stomach. It will verify how we are lead by idiots. But if you forget everything else that he said leading up to this - and I mean forget it totally - you will see why he is such a great leader and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Thank God someone talked some sense into the man but I just don't think his foolish pride and omnipotent arrogance will allow him to go punked for very long.

He's a pompous ass and just proved to the world that he is a loud mouth that likes to bully the people that can't fight back, but when push comes to shove he tucked his tail and ran.
He's Putin's bitch now

The president also noted, “while I believe I have the authority to carry out this military action without specific congressional authorization, I know that the country will be stronger if we take this course, and our actions will be even more effective.”

Translation
Oh crap !
What do I do now ?
I know I can do whatever I want and the there is not a dang thing the American people can do about it, but I'll let congress make the call on this one and get me off the hook.

I agree wholeheartedly with your translation. He now has an out no matter how they vote.

Another thing, he is in a chess match with Putin right now, and he is about to be checkmated.

His handlers no doubt pointed out that should congres say NO!, he can say "Hey, I wanted to launch but the House majority said NO--blame them."
If the house says Yes, then when/if things go wrong, he can say "Hey, I was acting on a congressional mandate--blame them."

What is scary is it took nothing more than a little chat to change his mind. This tells me he didn't think this thing through very well at all and is the very reason I do not think our country should ever go to war without the full approval of both houses. Political vacillating from politicians creates wars like Vietnam where our troops are hung out to dry while the vermin sit in Washington playing politics. Its one thing to allow the military to take on a bunch of pirates or some nut cases to defend our interests but its a completely different story when our actions can destabilize the whole world. With his lack of backbone and forethought Opie has already proven he would have no problem hanging our troops out to dry if it would please Moochelle Antoinette or the man behind the curtains holding the puppet strings.

I think someone pointed out to him that impeachment proceddings would start as soon as he gave the launch order.

I don't think so. He knows he can always play the race card and his flock will come to his beckoning call. Personally, I think it was more his realizing he actually made a decision for once and this is uncharted territory for him and he had to back up so he'd have someone else to blame. As it is, he can be viewed as an innocent lamb and he now has so many to blame no matter what transpires.

I'm just glad its stopped for now.

Many of the news channels and such as NBC are backed by Opie, so they are biased in what they report. The WH allows NBC correspondents in the White House, and they are invited to the dinners. They only report what the WH wants the public to hear.

Here is a site that reports what is actually going on around the world if you want the truth. The reports do not come from WH approved sites.

Just curious, are you for or against an attack on Syria?

I'll say, I am against it, and I wish McCain and Graham would just shut up. Given enough time, the governments of the middle east will collapse and reform many times without our help.

Beginning in the morning on March 16, 1988 the Iraqis rained down volley after volley of bombs filled with a deadly mixture of mustard gas and nerve agents on Halabja killing approximately 5,000 women, men, and children within days of the attacks. Long-term effects included permanent blindness, cancer, and birth defects. An estimated 10,000 lived, but live daily with the disfigurement and sicknesses from the chemical weapons.

Yet Obama bashed Bush for his attack on Iraq. While during an April 2007 speech to the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Obama said the U.S. cannot try to “bully [the world] into submission.”

Like someone said on here, Obama is using Congress to give him a fall guy or scapegoat whichever way the windbag blows. And Congress willingly plays the patsy.

I wholeheartedly sympathize with your assessment, however I am of the flavor that believes in Grazon and start over. I hate it, but sometimes you got to sacrifice some clover to rid yourself of the briars. I say clean nuke, clean up, harvest the natural resources, and etc........we can debate the use of the land and resources later. Does this attitude make me an evil person? Does it bring out the unpolitical correctness in me? Just so I'm not causing a point of confusion among my CT friends, I don't give a be nice.

You won't get a big argument out of me, but I think Obummer is simply going to shoot them in the butt with a BB gun... That said, I do not want to see another American boot on Mideast soil unless they are sitting up an oil well
