What are some real world Pro-s and con's of the Braunvieh breed? Have read all the propaganda, but would like to hear somebody,s actual experiences with them. Thanks

The ones I saw in the show ring. Loved them when they were young. Roached badly when they walked as adults. My son's girlfriend at the time had one and it would literally try to eat its self to death. Had to keep weight down to help with the roaching problem and the hooves trimmed constantly. Dispositions were not always the best and we hve messed with a few heifers in our time. Again it depends on what you want to use them for.

I looked into them, crossed beautifully with angus. Seem to be big and have some dystocia issues.

I have only had two Angus Braunvieh cross cows. Those two were excellent mothers, milker and highly fertile, wouldn't mind having more of them.[/list]

Fertility is one of the most popular draws. They cross well with just about anything.

I don't know anything about them except I like how they look. I've seen alot of folks use black bulls on Braunvieh cows and they wouod raise some whopping big calves. I wouldn't be afraid to try them. Wonder how a Braunvieh bull would do on some commercial Longhorn cows? Probably raise some big calves but would probably be all colors.
