Prolapse

Yesterday i noticed my 3 yr old Brangus bull had a prolapsed rectum. I had never seen this before but i'm sure it does happen. Is this maybe some type of cattle hemrhoids or something more serious? I am going to call my vet today but just thought i would get some input from you guys.

I've only seen one rectal prolapse. Vet put it back, stitched the cow up, and she never had another problem with it.

We had a three month old calf with a prolapsed rectum this week. Naturally it was not having anything to do with cooperating so it was a round up to get it to the vet. He said he had seen bulls and cows with the problem but never a calf. He very carefully put it back in and stitched it up. He also gave the calf a long term pain shot, which I thought was very considerate of him--maybe routine but new to me.
