Processing fees

Just wondering what everybody's paying. North Georgia processors near me.

State certified processor:
$45 harvest fee .85 cents a pound hanging weight.

USDA certified processor:
$95 harvest fee $1.35 a pound hanging weight.
Custom label including ranch name or logo not included.

Both processors include weight, vacuum packing and protection against bones.

If your state certified processor does all the cuts you want and turns out a good product, that’s a heck of a deal if you aren’t selling across state lines.

Is that a fee or the processing amount? So the USDA is charging $95 plus 1.35 as a fee or is that the per pound processing fee.?

Closest one to me is about a 10 minute drive, $75 slaughter fee, $1.25/lb hanging.

Another my friend took an animal to recently was I think 0.75/lb, but a bit further away. Both custom processors.

The closest USDA facility is about an hour and a half, a family member takes his there to sell retail, was 0.75/lb hanging, I don't remember the per head fee.

Custom is $75 kill and $.90 hanging.
USDA is $110 kill and $1.03 hanging.

My custom guy is 90 kill, 85 cents per pound. Works out to about a dollar per pound on an 800 lb carcass.

Other guy I'm gonna try is 66 cents per lb but they have price additions for certain things. Haven't tried them yet so not sure how it'll work out.

Seems 1.00 per lb around here in the end for custom.

Custom exempt $135 kill fee, $0.99/lbs cut & wrap. There are a few options but i think they are all in this neighborhood.

USDA $257 kill fee, $1.34/lbs cut & wrap, only show in town at the moment. This pricing was from 2023, i think it may be higher now.

Yes they actually do a great job it's mostly women that clean up and package they are Mennonites and really great people !
