Problem with Kamars??

We AI everthing. Put a Kamar on a heifer a few weeks ago when we thought it was time for her to cycle. Watched her for several days. Finally the patch turned slightly pink on one end but saw no riding. It was cold during that time (cold for us, freezing temps at night). We thought the temperature could have affected the Kamar. Anyone else experience something like this with Kamars?

Had kinda the same problem with kamars , never knew if it was completely red or just leaked alittle .Not very dependable. Got A HeatWatch system , know we know every time one stands to be rode. I would not take share in the railroad for our system.

I saw the link Dun posted, I too am interested in the cost of the system. I also assume that if you have multiple cows with the patch (sensor) on her. the computer identifies the animal the information is coming in on, instead of having to hunt through the herd for a visual heat detection sign.

I have a heatwatch system and love it when its working. Its expensive to start but if you are getting cows bred it will pay for itself. Especially if your only a one person operation. It will work 24-7-365. Rex and Judy MacDowall are who I deal with and I really like them. They are willing to help anyway possible. You may try to get a refurbished system. It would be cheaper. They are comingout with a new wireless system for heatwatch or so I have been told. Any questions as to the system just let me know. I may have some transmitters for sale. I will have to check.
 
I am a authorized dealer for the Heatwatch system . The basic start price is $3500.00 for the system and $41.00 each for the transmitters.We are currently about the introduce the new HeatWatch II system in the spring , and it has alot of new Bells and Whistles.

K-Mar tags are just a tool. You have to SEE other signs. Sometimes the tag might get a little red on an end. If she was standing and had another animal with her tall/big enough to truly ride her, than the tag would be ALL RED along the bubble. Also, the rest of the white tag should be DIRTY & maybe a little scuffed up. My guess is she DID NOT cycle.
 
At this point we can't afford the Heatwatch system (but will soon!) so we opted for the Estrus Alert patches over the Kamars. If you have somewhere to keep them where they can't rub them off on tree branches they work great (right now we have a bit of a mesquite problem). Like a lottery ticket so it's really hard if not near impossible to get a false reading, and they only cost about $1 apiece. We had a few come in overnight that we never would have caught without the patches.
