Is probios necessary when using nuflor, micotil, baytril or even penicillian? Can't say that I have ever used it on my calves, and I very seldom loose one. I watch them close and try to get them doctored with pen G and sustatian III boluses. I try not to use the higher prowered antibiotics unless I have to. I can usually get them cleared up the Pen G and boluses. At what point and which ones will knock out the normal flora?

No. Not ever heard of it used just becasue you are giving antibiotics. But I would use it if the animals stomach is tore up. Calve scours or adult scours of any type that are out of the ordinary. I use it sometimes when I buy new cows that are going to go on a lush pasture. Ususally if it is winter and feeding grass hay i don't bother. But during the summer and spring on the green grass I do.
