Went and picked up an S0191 today for steal. almost brand new. But hasn't been used in awhile.

All the locks and moving parts were pretty "sticky" and couldn't get the automatic head catch to "automatically" catch when I hit it, kicked it, punched it.. started throwing WD-40 on it.. still having some trouble. Also the emergency exit was not locking closed.. also kicked it, punched it, you name it. Any tips or tricks for you priefert owners? Probably hasn't been oiled in a few years.. it got too hot (104) to mess with it for too long. Wondering if the chute is out of alignment maybe? Idk

The part I videoed is the lock I can’t get to close the emergency exit. I had to lock it closed with the handle below cause the lock wouldn’t engage

 
Just keep working it and oiling it. If they get rusted up once, it takes a regular oiling in off times to keep it from seizing up again. At least it still has paint on it. Most I see are rusted especially around the bottom because they don't get washed out after service. I can look at a cattle chute and tell you whether the owner's stock trailer is rusted out.

Awesome, I’ll keep working it. It has a sticker from 2020 on it and this guy said he bought it and it sat in his barn and never used it.

Looked it up on the Priefert site and no prices, but TSC has the other model for 5k... so I think you did okay... LOL
One thing I noticed is they suggest very specifically to use a "light oil"... and nothing with teflon or .... something else, I forgot what they said. You might want to go on the website and read a bit on the one you bought. Maybe call them and see if they have any suggestions....
Looks to be in very good shape if you can get it unstuck and parts all moving... we don't have a squeeze chute, just a head catch type... it works for what we do, but a squeeze would be nice for working the bigger bull calves sometimes.

I think they have a lifetime warranty on the sliding auto-locking things, that are on the head gate, There is also one of those auto slide things on the squeeze function (at the top of the chute) also BTW. Thanks for the reminder to go squirt mind again. (y)

Contact them from the website and they will probably take care of you. (from website): i.e send a new one or take yours off and get it rebuilt

You are correct on what to apply on the brakes. I remember they were very specific

The automatic catch works well on the larger, more nervous types but anything calm does not trigger it on ours. For young stock we just push them in with head gate closed and then work the head gate manually. Seldom have any problems
 
Oil it up good with Kroil or PB blaster and it'll start freeing up. Squeeze chutes get sticky from sitting out all year. We generally oil ours after the first cow or three get missed 🤣
