Usually about $1.50 a pound. Mostly it depends on the sale barn and who's there. When they bring the cow through and no one bids on them as a pair, the ring man might offer a split. Look at the navel for signs of age on the calf. I like them one to two weeks old. I picked up a really nice heifer calf for $80 this year. Didn't want her and wasn't looking at the time. But for $80 I took her. When we got home I put her on the nurse cow and pulled one of the steers off of the cow. Sold that 5 week old steer at Cleburne for way more than he should have brought. That is how it is at auctions. If there's a dozen folks bidding, prices go high.
