Precious Metals

Help Support CattleToday:

The one time I played Black Jack in a casino, it was a Saturday and the PBR was there. $15 a hand, and I played 2 hands. I was in college and lost almost all my week's grocery money in about 2 minutes. Penny slots from here on for me.
You're a lucky man. Old gambler's saying.
Walking out with winnings the first time you go to a casino is as unlucky as can be, it's destroyed many a man, because they think it's easy money.

Tin has been a big mover of late $47,000US/ton. I have a mining company that is looking at reworking the old dump piles in my block with better machinery. I should jump in and see what I can pan. I don't want them in there but if they have to be there I will push for better access as it is a bit landlocked except through my home block. There are 3 legal road reserves into it but each has issues with big creek crossings or big rock to move. So the roads might be my way of cashing in on the metal market.

Reminds me of a girl I dated briefly in college… her parents had a silver bar upstairs in their house for a doorstop. Doubt I'll ever see anyone else using a 1,000 ounce bar for such a purpose! Turns out her parents were just about as clueless as her.

I'll bet there are a few Russians wishing they had a little more gold or silver right now.

March 8 2021 gold 1,684 oz
I thought as an inflation hedge gold would take off, instead it just kind of sputtered along.
January 27 2022 gold 1793 oz
Russia/Ukraine seems to have lit a fire under it and now it's flirting with 2,000
Today March 7 2022 gold 1986 oz
$1986 - 1684 = 302 = Gold is up 17.9% vs year ago

The Euro is down 4.5% in the last 2 weeks and looks like it will continue downward trend as long as the problems in Ukraine weigh on Europe, which should push gold up and up. just my 2 cents

edited to add:
Gold closed at 2,001 today (up 18.8% vs year ago)
silver 25.83
bit coin 39,901
we bought diesel in mar 2020 at $0.80/L and it's over doubled in price now.. was a better investment than gold

Sounds like you got to visit upstairs a bit.

How much of that March 2020 diesel do you have in storage?
Filling up in January 2022 would also have been a better investment than gold.

March 7 national average price of gasoline was 4.06 and next week it's expected to break the record high average of 4.11 gallon set in June 2008.

I heard an economist (forgot the name) say American consumers can adapt to these prices, but if it goes a dollar higher it will bring real pain.

4000 gallons
Yeah, people will adapt...by being miserable and having zero money for anything fun

Bought 3,500 gallons too much, ya should've put that money in the S&P 500 in March/April 2020 and then sold the S&P in January 2022 and bought the fuel. :)

People have always been miserable and no fun. :)

I was talking about trading stock to a neighbor last night who borrowed one of my technical analysis books. I told him one of the worst things is to make money right away. You will think you know how to do it--but you don't.
