Prairie Fire (pics)

Here are some pictures of one of several prairie fires that were started by lightning yesterday. This one burned between 2 and 3 sections in the local community pasture before they got it out. It started about 2 pm and was pretty much out by 8 pm. There was also a smaller fire started just over the hill.

As a smoker, I am always leary about throwing mu butts out the window in a drought area.

I know you said these were caused by lightning, but even more are caused by unaware smokers flicking cig's out the window.

Let's be careful out there please.

That is a good point. There have also been several fires started by haybines and swathers hitting rocks in the hayfields this year. The crop is good, but it is really starting to dry out.
