Anyone take a power nap during the day?
A lot of people feel guilty about taking a little Zzzz during the day  . If I have the oppitunity I nod off for about 45min during lunch time-no guilt feelings here!! :P

I have been known to when I just cannot go on anymore. The problem I have is to get back going again, so I usually just plug on through the day.

When we milked cows we would try to grab a nap from around 3:30 till 5:00 because our days would start at 5 am and would not end until final check around midnight and that was 7 days a week 365 days a year usually, you burn out pretty quick if you do not get a nap.

I would love to be able to cat nap everyday , the kit kit's nap lasts around 5-6 hours :lol2: :P ...

Feel guilty about a nap??? Never !!!! I figure it's just the Good Lord's way of telling me to slow down.

I try to keep going, too. I am an ill girl when I wake up if I do take a nap, and I never really feel 'awake' the rest of the day. I do much better to grab a cup of coffee and keep at it.

I've been known to take a lil nap once in a while-feels real good too, especially when you are worn down, and its cold outside, nothing better than crawling underneathe many quilts and snuggling up.

I thought a power nap was in the book of rules and regulations of retirement.
I don't feel a bit guilty of a nap whenever I can. Lately with all the bad weather we been having I can.

Alison, that's just mean! Rubbing it in that your schedule allows for a power nap.

Once in a great while, I actually get to take an afternoon nap. There's lots of days I wish I could. But only 20 minutes or so, longer than that messes me up for the rest of the day and also my sleep that night.

My dad is retired and he lives with us. He takes a good hour or so nap every afternoon. He's in good health and at an ideal weight so it works for him!

Amen on the nap especially when it gets really hot, get up before daylight and work until lunch. Take a nice long nap then go up to the bull pen(old house) reload, read a good book, then back to work couple hours before dark.

I get as much sleep as I can and that's not much.

It's generally well known among salesmen/industry support here is that if a dairy farmer's at home he could be napping - I don't think it's deliberate, just that the nature of the work is such that most can't sit down for five minutes without falling asleep.

You know, I've got to take my hat off to all these people who have a day job *and* run cattle.

I love to take naps. Can't remember the last one though. A good 15 minute nap does wonders for me. But any longer than that and I am generally not able to get cranking again.

No, I rarely take a nap. About the only time it happens is if I'm sick, or we've been doing 12-14 hour days for weeks on end. Otherwise, I wake up cranky and out of sorts, my brain doesn't wake up at all until the next morning and, I can't sleep that night.

I go to sleep/take naps whenever the opportunity is there. Morning, noon, afternoon, night.
But I do not call them "power" naps. Sounds to me like something a town raised, politically correct, Rx cowboy would come up with. :lol2:

In the spring when we're doing field work, I'll stop in the middle of the field and hang my head down for about 5 mins and be able to go a couple more hours. Any other time after lunch I've been known to sit down in this chair to check the grain markets and take about a 10 minute nap, not much power to it :lol2: .

Heck I live on a power nap, Work 6pm to 6am for an oilfield service company, have just enough time when I get off in the morning to head home get a shower and something to eat then head to class until around 1 in the afternoon, then head home catch a nap and get ready to do it all over again....I guess youth is the only thing that gets me through it haha.

For those of you who get cranky after a nap there is always a caffeine nap.

Researchers have found that drinking a cup of coffee before your nap helps clear your system of Adenosine, a chemical which makes you sleepy-you see, there is always a way around a problem.

So you 'non-nappers' no more excuses  .

Some days 15 minuits, some days 2 hours.. Noplace to go nuttin to do,raining out there,so can't ride "Buzzy" at all,not even 'round the block! :frowns: Always sleep real good if there's something on tv that I really want to watch.

When my youngest son was 4-5 he would take naps on the tractor-does that count?-LOL
Why not?
I have taken a lot of naps on a tractor (not intentional) a lot older than that. :help: :hat:
Other locations as well, (Very brief, thank goodness) but not going to go into that.
